5 Friends You Need in Your Life

5 Friends You Need In Your Life (And 5 You Definitely Don’t)

UPDATED MAR 2020. Good friends can make such a huge difference in life. They can encourage you, teach you, support you and provide great company on the ride of life. When I left Australia, I was faced with the challenge of making new friends and to be honest it took a long time to find a group of people that I clicked with. As I found these positive people and developed friendships with them over time, it taught me a lot about the types of friends you need in your life which is what I am sharing here today.

5 Friends You Need In Your Life (And 5 You Definitely Don’t)

Everyone can relate to this guide about the friends you need in your life

The brave friend

You know, the seemingly fearless (and somewhat crazy) friend who jumps in headfirst and will try anything twice.

The brave friend is the one to push you outside of your comfort zone to achieve things that you did not think were possible, which is something very necessary if you want to live your life to the fullest.

The insightful friend

This is the friend who thinks and feels deeply. The wise one who can offer life lessons by helping you to unlock insights into your own behavior and feelings.

The insightful friend might not always tell you what you want to hear, but that is because they know what you need to hear to grow, develop and navigate through life’s challenges.

Like a wise old owl, this friend leaves you feeling enlightened and more aware.

The smart friend

The smart friend is the one to open your mind and be a teacher in the thinking sense.

They won’t stick to the superficial conversations for long, instead preferring to delve into subjects like history, current events or politics.

Not only are they handy if you are going to a trivia night, but their knowledgable nature also provides lessons outside of the classroom and they will help you to become a smarter person.

The logical friend

The logical friend is a practical and reasonable problem solver.

Where the insightful friend might feel too much and the smart friend might think too much, the logical friend sits in the middle, simply thinking practically to get from A to B in the way that makes the most sense.

This is the friend you need around in high pressure or tricky situations.

The inspiring friend

The inspiring friend is the uplifting one who makes you feel like you can do anything.

Whether it is through their actions in their own life or their words of encouragement to you, after you spend time with this friend you feel motivated and encouraged to make moves in your own life.

Isn’t that a feeling we all need to give and receive?

And 5 You Don’t

The jealous friend

The jealous friend is possibly the worst kind of friend to have in your life because they will simply never be happy for you.

Well, that is unless something bad happens to you. Instead, insecurity oozes out of their every pore as they turn green with envy at your every achievement.

When something good happens to you, the jealous friend might stop talking to you or they may smile through the teeth, then talk negatively behind your back working to bring you down.

No matter what, it’s toxic and not worth your time.

The negative friend

Ever had that friend who always has something negative to say when something good happens in your life?

Those times when you are excited to share some great news and when you do, you are met with one (or more) reasons why whatever it is will fail.

They are not the type to be happy for you, or anyone else for that matter, instead they tend to want to bring down whatever good feelings you have and you don’t need someone who is trying to deprive you of happiness.

The gossipy friend

There’s always that friend who seems to know all the details of other people’s lives and to be honest, that’s usually the most they can offer to your conversations.

These are the friends that you simply cannot trust, because if they are so interested in gossiping about everyone else’s lives then you can expect them to do the same to you.

Take three slow steps back, then run as fast as you can away from them!

The lazy friend

The lazy friend is the one who makes you feel like you are putting in all the work for the friendship.

You are consistently the one initiating conversation, following up on messages that weren’t returned and making the plans to spend time together.

It’s not nice to feel like you have to chase your friends, or to feel rejected when they don’t make an effort on you.

A true friendship will be a balance of giving and taking, and that is what you deserve.

The competitive friend

If you have a competitive friend who is always on a mission to one-up you instead of focusing on living a life true to themselves then that can be quite frustrating and draining.

You always want to shake their own identity into them, don’t you?

Remember that imitation is a form of flattery, so distance yourself if you need to but always keep walking your own path.

Yes to all of this, I have these friends, but they’re all back in my hometown. Whenever I visit home, it’s usually complete solace to be back in their company. I always feel more rooted when I’m back with them.

You forgot the welfare meth/crackhead friend who stays over for a few days with no money, eats all your food, leaves a mess for you to clean up after they’ve left, steals money and jewelery before u notice it after
    they’re gone
